Make a Difference for Tomorrow’s Older People.

Loneliness and isolation can affect anyone at any age, but as we grow older, opportunities to connect may dwindle. Experiencing long periods of loneliness can have a serious effect on our health, for example, increasing our risk of dementia by up to 64%.

As Scotland’s population changes, those who are over 60 are set to make up a major part of our communities. How are we going to meet the needs of this large section of society? But more importantly, how will we offer a future that is vibrant and desirable?

Tomorrow's Older People aims to find the answers to those questions and help to create a more connected and caring future.

We have been talking to local people, hearing from them about their hopes and fears for their older age. Now, we are forming a group of enthusiastic local leaders who are interested in working together to make the changes we need now, for a happy older age tomorrow.

The aim of this Collaborative group is to create change that is guided by local leaders - the people and professionals who want to make a difference.

We would like to invite you to join us for our first Collaborative event, where we will share some of the insights we have gained from being out in the community, and explore the challenges that face an aging population in East Renfrewshire.
